It is about insurance policies in India. I have already 3 policies with LIC (Life Insurance Corporation of India). But recently I came to know that insurance is haraam in Islam. My policy is for 10 years duration say. I don't have any idea what to do now. Are all insurance working in India (ICICI, Relince Life. Insurance of one’s life or possessions is haraam and is not permitted, because it involves gharar (buying/selling something where it is not known whether what is being bought/sold will actually be achieved/delivered, or in what specific quantity, thus putting one’s money at undue risk to being lost) and riba (usury, interest).
Your Question: plz tell me why is insurance haram? Dear and Beloved Brother, the concept of insurance per say in its essence is not prohibited in Islam; it is the riba or interest element, which is the financial back-bone of modern day conventional insurance, is what has been declared haraam and absolutely prohibited in Islam.
Why insurance is haram. But if life insurance provided by any Islamic bank then will it be halal where there is not interest/riba in it? I found most of the Islamic life insurance company run based on Takaful method (which means may be mutual risk sharing or guaranty to each other). those type of insurance provider are saying its Islamic shariah compliant. if it’s a Haram before in the Haram category surely can go and speak to the management and say that see I know that it is for my benefit that if I give a medical insurance claim my money’s being cut maybe a few hundred rupee but any problem so you can give. and I think that please don’t cut my medication is claimed and if any medical expenses I will bear. Insurers invest in haram areas so to the extent you’re insuring with a certain return at the end such as life insurance, I need to do further thinking on this but preliminarily, the same rulings apply for any fund that you invest in that has haram holdings (see this article.) "In the circles of contemporary Shari'ah scholars, there are three opinions about life insurance. They all recognize that it is a new contract not known in the history of Fiqh. A minority consider it haram and with all kinds of argument against it including Riba, gambling, gharar and speculation on the will of Allah.. In my previous short article “Is insurance coverage haram or halal?” (video above too), I went over a few of the primary arguments for why insurance coverage need to be thought about acceptable from a Shari’ viewpoint.
In my previous article “Is insurance haram or halal?” (video above too), I discussed some of the main arguments for why insurance should be considered permissible from a Shari’ perspective. However, at the end of the article I promised a follow-up article on life insurance as I noted that it is a different beast to your standard insurance that protects against loss, and as such requires. Insurance is totally permissible and is a must in modern world. If any body is saying it is haram and is prompting people not to buy it, he is preventing the widow of somebody a social security. When somebody dies two types of death do occur. Insurance means to security risk and uncertainties are risks. When our car will get accident insurance company will indemnify the insured. Islam said Allah is a protector of everything. Then why people need to ensure their asset with insurance companies. Simply speaking insurance companies work on interest.
Many scholars criticize the system of conventional insurance as exploitative and unjust. They point out that paying money for something, with no guarantee of benefit, involves high ambiguity and risk. One pays into the program, but may or may not need to receive compensation from the program, which could be considered a form of gambling. Re: Islam Q&A: Why Insurance is Haram I think the only reason Muslims say that insurance is haram is because it is a "Western" practice, and Muslims seem to go to extremes just to avoid these so called "develish, western ways of life." It depends on the system of the insurance. Wheather it is health or car insurance, most of the systems are classified under gambling and thus not allowed. Cooperative insurance is, on the other hand, allowed, i.e. people pay a certain amount of m…

Is the profit Halal or Haram? What we can figure out from all of this is that if the Insurance Company invests money into work and companies that are allowed under Islamic and Shariah Law, then the profit received under endowment policy will be halal. If not, then this is Haram and will not be allowable under Islamic rules. For example, if an insurance company is making an investment in real.
